Reba’s Cajun Dakota Banks Blackjack “Reba”

Reba is a home-bred Calaveras Labrador, born and whelped right here on our ranch on August 11, 2024. A light fox-red female weighing about 55 pounds, she is everything we hoped to produce from this cross—healthy, athletic, kind, and naturally talented.

Reba is sensitive, gentle, well-mannered, and exceptionally easy to train. She has a sweet disposition and wants to please, but when it is time to work, she gets serious. She works the ground hard, hunts with purpose, and her nose is a solid 10 out of 10. She is thoughtful in the field, responsive to her handler, and carries herself with the kind of natural manners we value in our Labradors.

Her dam, Mattie Ross, was also raised here on the ranch and is one of our heritage females, known for her kind temperament, strong retrieving drive, close-working style, excellent blind manners, and ability to push through tough terrain. Her sire, “Bo”, brings outstanding intelligence, field instinct, drive, trainability, and an easy, gentle nature around people and children.

Reba combines the best of both sides of that pedigree, and she has grown up doing what our dogs do best—living a full ranch life, learning good manners, working, exploring, swimming, and being part of the family.
