TRIP

Trip is a powerful black Labrador Retriever with the pedigree, intelligence, drive, trainability, and proven working ability we look for in a sire. He has earned his Master Hunter (MH) title and is a Master National qualifier, demonstrating the ability to perform successfully at the upper levels of Labrador hunt testing.

In the field, Trip is athletic, focused, and driven. He marks well, works with purpose, uses his nose, and brings the natural retrieving instinct and persistence expected from a Labrador bred for serious work. He combines that working ability with the intelligence and trainability needed to handle advanced training and challenging field situations.

Trip’s pedigree is especially impressive. His sire is FC AFC Buster Posey MH, a Field Champion, Amateur Field Champion, and Master Hunter. His dam, Steel Shots Majestic Black Diamond Jet MH, is also a Master Hunter.

His pedigree includes generations of accomplished field Labradors, including:

FC AFC Carbons Blue Pursuit
FC AFC Gunstock’s Topshelf Snap Decision
NAFC FC AFC Carbon Copy of Horn Creek
NFC FC AFC Five Star General Patton
NAFC FC AFC Ebonstar Lean Mac
FC AFC Hunting Hills Coriander
FC AFC Blackwater Rudy
FC AFC Crow Rivers Malarky’s Cougar
FC AFC Chena River Chavez
and numerous additional FC, AFC, MH and nationally accomplished working Labradors.

The pedigree even includes Wizard’s Little Guenevere MH MNH5, reflecting generations of dogs proven through advanced hunt tests and national-level competition.

But titles are only part of what matters to us. Trip also carries the temperament that makes the Labrador Retriever such an exceptional all-around dog. Away from the field, he has the kind of good mind, manners, and disposition that allow a serious working dog to also be an enjoyable companion.

Trip has Good OFA hips and Normal elbows and has completed extensive genetic health testing through UC Davis, testing clear/normal for the Labrador conditions included in his panel. He is also D/D non-dilute, meaning he does not carry the dilute gene.

Trip is owned by another breeder, and we were fortunate to bring his genetics into the Calaveras Labradors breeding program. We selected him because he represents so much of what we want to preserve: proven field ability, generations of accomplished working genetics, sound structure, intelligence, trainability, natural retrieving ability, and classic Labrador temperament.

Master Hunter. Master National qualifier. Nationally proven field genetics. Classic Labrador temperament.
