TRIP X REBA 2026

We are very excited about this cross between Reba’s Cajun Dakota Banks Blackjack “Reba” and Broken Stone’s See Ya Next Fall, MH “Trip.” This breeding brings together two strong working Labrador lines while preserving the intelligence, temperament, trainability, and natural ability we value just as much as titles on a pedigree.

Reba is our gentle, sensitive, and exceptionally biddable 55-pound light fox-red female, raised here on our ranch. She works the ground hard, has an outstanding nose, and is naturally mannered and eager to please. She brings strong hunting instinct, intelligence, trainability, and the kind of temperament that makes a Labrador a pleasure to live with as well as work beside.

Trip brings another level of proven performance to the cross. He is a Master Hunter (MH) and Master National qualifier, with the drive, athleticism, intelligence, retrieving instinct, and working ability expected from generations of highly accomplished field Labradors.

His pedigree is filled with proven dogs, beginning with his sire FC AFC Buster Posey MH and dam Steel Shots Majestic Black Diamond Jet MH. Behind them are numerous Field Champions, Amateur Field Champions, Master Hunters, National Field Champions, and National Amateur Field Champions, including NFC FC AFC Five Star General Patton, NAFC FC AFC Carbon Copy of Horn Creek, NAFC FC AFC Ebonstar Lean Mac, FC AFC Carbons Blue Pursuit, and FC AFC Gunstock’s Topshelf Snap Decision.

That gives this litter a deep foundation of working genetics behind the natural qualities we already see and value in Reba.

We expect the Reba × Trip puppies to have excellent noses, strong retrieving instinct, good bird drive, intelligence, athleticism, and excellent trainability, with the versatility to succeed as hunting Labradors, bird dogs, hunt test prospects, active outdoor companions, and family dogs.

Just as important, we bred for dogs that can turn it off when the work is finished. Our goal is not simply a Labrador that can hunt. We want a dog with the mind and temperament to be your hunting partner in the morning and your family dog at the end of the day.

Based on Trip’s homozygous black color genetics, this litter is black, with the puppies carrying Reba’s fox-red/yellow genetics into the next generation.

This breeding represents what we have spent years working to preserve at Calaveras Labradors: healthy, intelligent, honest working Labradors with good noses, good minds, natural ability, strong pedigrees, and the temperament to fit into real families.

Master Hunter sire. Master National qualifier. Proven field genetics. Ranch-raised dam. Bred for the field and the family.
