Reba × Trip — Puppies Due September 10

We are excited about this upcoming cross between Reba’s Cajun Dakota Banks Blackjack “Reba” and Broken Stone’s See Ya Next Fall, SH “Trip.” This breeding brings together two strong working Labrador lines with the temperament and trainability we value just as much as field ability.

Reba is a gentle, sensitive and exceptionally biddable 55-pound light fox-red female raised here on our ranch. She works the ground hard, has an outstanding nose, and is naturally mannered and eager to please. Trip is an accomplished Senior Hunter from generations of FC, AFC, MH and other proven field dogs. He brings drive, athleticism, intelligence, retrieving instinct and a strong working pedigree to the cross.

We expect these puppies to have excellent noses, strong retrieving drive, good trainability and plenty of natural hunting ability, while still having the temperament to settle in and be wonderful family companions. This should be a versatile litter suited for hunting homes, active families, hunt tests and people simply looking for an intelligent Labrador with generations of working ability behind it.

Based on Trip’s homozygous black color genetics, we expect black puppies from this litter, carrying Reba’s fox-red/yellow genetics into the next generation.

Most of all, we are looking forward to puppies that reflect what we have spent years trying to preserve at Calaveras Labradors: healthy, honest working dogs with good minds, good manners and the ability to be your hunting partner all morning and your family dog when the work is done.
